Fitchburg Fire Headquarters

About

Location: Fitchburg, MA
Size: 6,830 sq. ft.
Status: Completed in 2000

The Fitchburg Fire Headquarters is a major component of the effort to revitalize downtown Fitchburg. It is a cornerstone of urban renewal, as well as an emblem of civic pride. To provide for the needs of a growing fire department and the public it serves, the 37,000 sq. ft. facility offers a seven-bay apparatus room, two bays of vehicle storage, a drive-through maintenance bay, and a hose tower/training stair combination. The building firmly establishes the significance of public safety within its community.

The building won a Design Award of Excellence from the New England Concrete Masonry Association, a Design Award of Honor from the National Concrete Masonry Association, and a Golden Trowel Award from the International Masonry Institute.
