Framingham Fire Station #2
About
Location: Framingham, MA
Size: 9,450 sq. ft.
Status: Completed in 2019
Context Architecture was selected to assist the City of Framingham in replacing their oldest public safety facility, Fire Station #2. The existing building was deteriorating and very short on space. The new station sits 100 feet from the Sudbury River and was shaped in large part by site considerations, including the steep slope.
We minimized the new structure’s footprint but maximized use with a highly efficient floor plan. The new 9,450 sq. ft. station includes three drive-through apparatus bays with support spaces; an operations office; firefighter living quarters, and a fitness room. The station opened in July 2019 to universal acclaim from town officials.
