Framingham Police Headquarters
About
Location: Framingham, MA
Size: 11,000 sq. ft. (Renovation)
30,000 sq. ft. (New)
Status: Completed in 1994
The program for this major renovation/expansion project called for the complete interior refit of an 11,000 sq. ft. police station located in a venerable former armory building, as well as the addition of more than 32,000 sq. ft. to serve as the Town’s Police Headquarters facility. Phased over a two-year period, the complex construction process allowed the 125-person police force to remain fully operational in the building during construction.
The large addition, which extends from the rear of the existing building, complements the original by incorporating similar materials: brick; cast stone trim; slate roof and design elements; arch-shaped windows; and a hip-style roof. Old and new are connected by an interior “bridge” structure which allows for full handicapped access.
